Am I doing this right?
The hardest part about parenting for me is wondering if I’m doing it right. Do you ever really get an answer to that question?
As I sit here watching my son work out in our living room, not because he loves it, but because he’s slightly overweight, I feel the weight of that question. He’s tall and only 13, and we’re both learning how to make healthier life choices.
I only really started my own health journey about two years ago, and I’m still learning myself.
Sometimes it feels like I’m breaking generational curses. Other times, some things feel natural, not because they’re perfect, but because we’re doing the best w know how with what we have.
He eats fruit, really loves fruit, broccoli, and nuts. But he also loves bagel bites, grilled cheese sandwiches, steak, and lemonade too. Him taking his vitamins every day makes me feel good.
He doesn’t like sports whatsoever, but he loves swimming. He only goes during the summer, but that still feels like a win.
I just want better for both of us, in life and in health.
